This SM supports SDH termination for 63 E1 electricalinterfaces. The interfaces are available on an EM.

This SM can be equipped on SPO 1460 and SPO 1410.

It is connected to the TDM switch fabric of the SwitchControl Module (SCM) in the SPO 1460 and SPO 1410.

The Service Module performs the following features:

·        SDH termination for E1 interfaces on an EM

·        1+1 equipment protection

The Service Module supports the following modes:

·        63X_E1_EM: 63 E1 electrical interfacesare supported. The EM provides access to external interfaces

The following interface types are supported in the EM:

·        E1 via patch panel
