Web Site Planner

Use this short site planner to help formulate goals and expectations for your new or redesigned site. Download the full-version site planner (PDF format - 142KB).

Section I - Who Are Your Customers?

  1. Create a profile (or profiles) of your target customer(s). Include information such as age, gender, computer knowledge, computer platform, internet usage, hobbies, occupation, education level, etc.
  2. Where are your customers? Are they local, regional, nationwide or international?
  3. Why do you think the people you've listed above will want to come to your web site?

Section II - Your Expectations

  1. How do you expect a web site will support your company or organization's goals and objectives? (Check as many as apply)
    • Improve customer service
    • Increase sales
    • Save money
    • Other (please explain)
  2. What do you think the web can do for your business or organization that other forms of media can not accomplish?

Section III - Marketing and Administration

  1. How do you think your web site should be integrated with other forms of marketing and distribution?
  2. Who will answer email?
  3. Who will update the web site?
  4. Who will register the site with search engines?
  5. Who will write the content for your site?
  6. Who will create or supply artwork and graphics for your site?

Section IV - Design and function

  1. How do you envision your site? List all function and design features that you would like to incorporate into your site.
  2. Do you plan to sell products on-line?
  3. Name at least three web sites you like and define why you like them.

Section V - Budget

  1. How much do you plan to spend on the design of your site?
  2. How much do you plan to spend on the maintenance and hosting of your site?
  3. How much do you plan to spend on the marketing of your site?
