Mail Manager - Do not use auto-responder.
A Word of Warning
Please do not implement the autoresponder feature for the default email address. Always make sure the default email address is set to "reject all messages and do not send an autoresponder".
The "default" address is any address that's not identified as a specific mailbox within your mail manager. Spammers often try sending emails to "someone@yourdomain.com" not knowing what real addresses exist. If your default email is set to accept these emails and to send an autoresponder it sets up a scenario where emails are bouncing back and forth to fictitous addresses. This is a criteria organizations such as "SpamCop" use to identify Spam. If an email address on my server is added to the "Spam" list it potentially creates problems for everyone on the server to send mail.
If you have any questions about the autoresponder issue or about your web hosting control panel, please contact me at cg@cgwebhelp.com. or call me at 860-432-8756.
Thanks for your cooperation and your business. cg
